Of remembering countless heroes And the need to rectify their nation's errors

Of remembering countless heroes
And the need to rectify their nation's errors

A message for National Heroes day
and remembering the late Armando J. Malay

As this person observed, people venerate heroes primarily as part of cultural heritage, as television and radio stations, as well as social media sites has urging everyone to remember and cherish their life and works, most likely all for the sake of impression that the nation is trying to cherish what their forefathers cultivate and still trying to instill in its people. For obviously most people care more about themselves and less of their fellow beings, except tragedies as well as holidays such as yuletide or any other festivities enough to appease everyone. And the system? Has really benefits from everyone's apathy as well as its holiday-only generosity.

Quite inconveniently true, especially that to see the fact that most people are becoming apathetic as they really favour much their own fantasies than to become a person for others. Yes, lives doesn't matter except themselves with all their comforts amidst semblance of generosity that often made for the sake of impressing others; and with today's media emphasising more of shallowness and a hodgepodge of nonsense, it seems that everything is becoming terrible rather than fine no matter it tries to satisfy everyone with illusions if not emphasising their asses with all its idioicies, hence trying to deviate everyone from the realities of having a corrupt order aggravating centuries-old tensions.
In every report that emphasises the idioicy coming from entities warring for ratings almost forgets the really serious issues that has to be taken justice in no time, hence the message of remembering heroes and cherish their contributionsis all but for chrissakes, fillers in a webpage. And speaking of issues that should be tacked and taken seriously with justice, where were the reports on Pork Barrel? DAP? Mamasapano? Ampatuan? Hacienda Luisita? The countless numbers of disappeared and unjustly killed by the system? The attempt to tax the once free-of-charge Balikbayan Boxes? Or even the latest issue on the dispute between the former and current members of the Iglesia ni Cristo? These issues are stacked from time to time by latest ones, hence deemphasised as news articles whether political or showbiz in nature, but today seems that showbiz and politics are entangled too much, and confusing which is political and which is not? Or which is really serious to emphasise or just mere rumor to debunk? Anyways, the system benefits from that entanglement at the expense of people trying to make an heroic act such as seeking truth from facts if not asserting calls for justice, freedom, and solidarity with the people the way they work hard and pay taxes. The latter seemingly stereotyped as an example of a "little heroic way" so is exposing the corrupt and favouring the righteous!

Sorry for all the incorrectness that made this writeup rather turns out to be a criticism than praise as it tells about remembering heroes and be inspired by its lessons. But these heroes are human, hence suspected to errors left unnoticed by historians. Some are even far from being heroic, of being servant to its people as they favour seats and privileges, they even forgot the duties and responsibilities of a patriot in a way Aguinaldo's opportunism surrendered his country for gold at Biaknabato if not certain leaders who traitorously favour a semblance of cabinet seats than asserting calls for national independence. And nowadays, as well as in the past, people hear self-proclaimed messiahs with all the infrastructures made for the sake of pride, political gimmick, and not as a duty like its own contstituents. Worse, squandering people's funds just to keep firm the status quo amidst criticism. Good to hear the infrastructure, but why can't even realise the aspirations of their heroic inspirations? Or is their inspirations far from being heroic and servant-like? Sorry to say but people used to look at Rizal, Bonifacio, Del Pilar for inspirations in life, but actually they look at the example of Hermana Penchang, Señor Pasta, Quiroga, or Tandang Basio Macunat for examples! When was the time people really rolled up sleeves for their fellowmen? For their community? It may sound idealistic to most people who easily shrug it off in favour with all their apathies, but a promising nation really demands civil servants willing to plough, forge, build in pursuit of having a nation reborn from its dreadful pasts.
Thus, this person is hoping that these people who able to create are the heroes trying to forge a future that a desperate nation trying to achieve and cherish for present and future generations to come. True that the centuries-old revolution is not yet been realised with those on high trying to keep firm a soiled status quo, true also that the reforms needed during the propaganda movement and its succeeding reformists has not yet been taken into action regardless of those people on high deem as irrelevant in today's setting. Hope that apathy is all but temporary till a strong wave of awareness breaks their collective disregardment in favour of standing up and rolling sleeves, forging for themselves and for a society in which its illustrous forefathers left its tasks unfinished if not trying to rectify its errors by means of letting its successors take its task of rectifying errors and remolding the nation into a well rounded whole with all its material and spiritual strength binded together.

Anyways, as what the late Armando Malay said in his 1934 Bonifacio day post:

"Our future national heroes shall come from the Proletariat, the backbone of any country at all times. They shall not come from the rich class, whose prime concern is still how to perpetuate itself in power. They shall not come from the idle intelligentsia, who will be found wanting when the supreme moment comes. They shall come from the toilers and their primary ideal shall be to raise the working class from its sordid level."

To paraphrase Malay, the working class demands a common front of those who willing to get serious in pursuit of a better country. True that the working class are the ones who clamour for liberation, so are the farmers, the petty yet willing segments of the intelligentsia such as this person, the late Malay himself, and hundreds, if not thousands of socially aware who engaged in social movements if not their "own little ways". In fact, he did speak on behalf of the masses, he did fight for the masses, and now he is in another world, will everyone willing to heed his message to raise a nation from its sordid level? The ones on high who thinks about power, as well as its apologetics, may deem it irrelevant as if the edifices in Makati and Taguig has proven that the country rose up, but did it stop the injustice in the mineral-rich mountains, sugarcane-fields, factories, and shantytowns? The message is radical for it speaks what is inconveniently true.

Therefore and obviously, regardless of what they deem irrelevant in the eyes of those on high, be it the call for reforms or urgung to stand up and fight against the dilapidated social order, still age-old bullshits remain. These bullshits somehow should been corrected for long if not for the system and those on high who failed to heed the call of its people in putting an end to the problem with justice. Now it is up to the ones who have the guts to assert and go beyond the parameters to counter with all the talents given with the awareness enough to bring light against this national nonsense. No matter those on high continue to babble the rising economic rates and infrastructures driven by patronage politics, yet can't even truly commited to bridge the gap between the haves and have nots, of building a true social concord between the state and its constituents, then Ladies and Gentlemen: no wonder those who afford to criticise able to debunk the myth as they afford to seek truth from facts, that they keep their eyes open regardless of how the system tries to put down and replace with what is currently shown. As everyone expect more and more intensified struggles, as everyone prepare to clear out consciences through remolding and emphasising virtue to rectify mistakes and rebuild for a better nation, let us, the people who in this post called everyone, keep collected in the spirit that the nation's forefathers imparted to us.

And that is more than just veneration.

"Unity"

"Unity"

By Kat Ulrike

Quite appreciative to hear the word especially coming from that group, but to use that word in consolidating the status quo, as well as its assertion to keep their interests, seems invalid if not making am existing issue be aggravated further. Be it from the simple complain about traffic over EDSA to those trying to unravel the truth behind issues about expelled ministers and corruption within the church; news reports as well as social media commentaries continue to churn about their action, be it from Padre Faura to Shaw Boulevard corner EDSA, creating a series of comments either blaming them for traffic if not urging the church authorities to face the music.

Based from the recent situations involving the well known church using separation of church and state as its clause to assert their semi-secular interests, their action also includes issues that are wholly secular in nature, be like the pork barrel, Mamasapano Massacre, PCOS machine, as well as other issues enough as an alibi for their so-called "action." Through the circular issued by their muftis (sorry for the term) seemed to be far from its religious nature, hence, turning their so-called action politically motivated.

But since they are into order, they used a semilegal action to keep firm in their interests. Sorry for the words, but for a sect known for its command votes and trying to gain its prominent members positions mainly in the Justice, Police, and the Investigation Bureau, and this time facing a series of controversies in which the state as well as its expelled devotees has trying to uncover in pursuit of seeking truth from facts, would make one ask: is their action a form of struggle against the system? Quite appreciative though to vent their criticisms as if like those of the radicals, but with their motive of firmly keeping the status quo prior to the unveiled issues isn't a struggle after all since they failed to face the issue and rectifying its errors. It happened to be using various alibis that are political in nature as if non-adherents whom are also criticising the system may able to join and fight.

And since it is political in nature, and trying to act like those of the radicals as observed by ordinary people (through social media), this person is thinking that, since they are strong especially in facing odds against the system, have they issued a fatwa calling their members within the armed forces and the police to turn their backs on the state and rally in favour of the faithful? For sure one would think that if they able to mobilise their people for a rally, maybe they can able to mobilise for a coup!

Anyways, according to Pinoy Weekly's Kenneth Guda, he said that:

"Of course, they have a right to assemble. That is not even a subject for debate. But what that assembly teaches us is that reactionaries can employ mass politics if it is to their advantage. Sometimes through money (e.g. rightist riots sa Venezuela), or through religion (ISIS is an extreme example, but you get the point)."

And having that kind of action has becoming a strategy to create discontent amongst the people. Believer and non-believer alike, they used the situation, ranging from affairs within the church (that is currently investigated by the Justice Department) to purely socio-political affairs (such as Mamasapano to PCOS Machines), in order to mobilise their adherents, and bloc roads such as Shaw Boulevard corner EDSA at passenger's disgust (since it created an ire for employees going to work or going home through the main arteries of the Metro). As according to Allen Severino:

"To their credit, the INC ministers are basically applying the teachings of Sun Tzu on methods of encircling the enemy. They are basically at the right place and the right time, for they have successfully occupied Shaw Boulevard and practically cutting off the normal flow of traffic and communications from all directions. Sun Tzu would applaud this tactic as brilliant and excellent to the last minute, but what will the gains for this movement? They may have won the battle but they will lose the war in a fashion which will be catastrophic."

To summarise it all, the recent events tries to show that the religious group acts also as a strong political bloc, and intervening in such matters involving the church, particularly those of controversial nature comes with a price. That beneath the calls of defending separation of church and state is also the assertion of the church as a relevant entity in state affairs based on historical accounts involving state-church relations. True that those events are controversial in nature, that oftentimes receiving ire from the people.

Sorry for the rambling, given that theirs is almost like a state not just a religious sect, based from their actions currently shown: from the use of their faith as basis of unity, to using controversies enough to justify their action, of using unity to keep firm in their interests.

Chernikov's Suprematist-Constructivist compostion: a revisit

Chernikov's Suprematist-Constructivist compostion: a revisit

Influenced by Malevich and the suprematist movement, Yakov Chernikov has its other side different from what is posted earlier.

Mostly leaned towards the future with all its radical architectural fantasies, Chernikov's work most likely dealt much with the use of reinforced concrete and steel, as different from those from the west. Shaking loose the nineteenth century's shackles of romantic historicism, Chernikov's work, as well as those of others from the former Soviet Union experimenting invokes an aspiration of an emerging society dealing with the future.

Obviously, these artists, like him were experimenting new ideas especially when it comes to their respective mediums. of utilising steel, concrete However, Socialist Realism became dominant that somehow made some artists utilise old forms like classicism and making it adapted to revolutionary purpose. Or rather say "AgitProp".

But come to think of this, prior to Chernikov's use of old architectural forms and his subsequent idea of fusing, his architectural compositions learned from his mentors seemingly trying to break the norm, besides seeing it as "mistaken" for "made using software" given the style similar to the concepts of a contemporary architect. And these artworks, made between 1925 to 1933, is a showcase of seriously leaning towards the future in which some would think that those edifices reflect those of people seriously dealing with Science Fiction, of going into space and create colonies trying to spread humanity outside earth, powered by machines enough to generate an empowered populace willing to break old forms.

Admittingly speaking, his attempts tends to forge a new design by means of fusing old and new, if not really breaking beyond conventions in pursuit of building a future what they called as just and glorious; 19th century tends to revisit the past, yet 20th century tries to steer towards the future in their own way such as through visual art if not architecture or any other experimental art that requires a fusion of mediums, of styles.
And again, Chernikov tries to invoke the idea of making the impossible possible by those who willing to go beyond the parameters.

The "Gothic" works of Yakov Chernikov

The "Gothic" works of Yakov Chernikov

Dreamed up by a not so well-known Soviet artist, or rather say Architect from the 1930s to 1940s, most of his sketches compiled for generations was enough to say that he triesO to invoke a fusion of past and present aspirations, with all its features likely to describe as "intricate", if not "gothic" with all its spires featured. It may deemed as utopic, given the artist's perception of a future people aspired to see as better than those of the west, regardless of being not realised in stone or in concrete.

However, despite invoking the regime's idea on architecture and art, emphasising informalism and working-class virility, his ideas, also likely to described as unusual, are likely to be less featured if not distrusted. He was deemed amaturish by his peers if not describing his works as exaggerated or even vulgar version of earlier designs of a tsarist past; yet he continued working unharmed, with few of his designs being made. One of which is a factory tower different from his works featured in this post.

And although people may consider his works as strange, of likely to deem as part of a fantasy tale if not science fiction, in fairness, for a man born from a poor family, he afforded to study art and architecture, acquainted some artists and its schools of thought, be it constructivism or suprematism, as well as made books concerning about the craft and made a portfolio featuring his works longing for its realisation, regardless of being called "avant garde" if not "vulgar" or any other description from his fellow artist-architects.

And his name? Yakov Chernikov.

Admittingly speaking, this person got stumbled in a page featuring his works. Quite interesting though to grab some pictures to feature in this writeup, with his designs likely to consider as "high art" in bourgeois standards. But no! That "high art" was made by a man coming from the working class as any other Soviet artist during those periods; but ironically, some of his designs reminds of Carlos A. Santos-Viola, a not so well-known architect studied under Nakpil and Luna de San Pedro, yet known for designing the temples of a well-known sect, yet remained Catholic until his death.

But come to think of this, despite its strangeness shown in his artworks, of being deemed amateurish, vulgar, exaggerated by his peers, how come his work somehow aligned with the aspirations of the past? Maybe it's too much to the authorities in order not to take it seriously, but to think that the high-rise towers of Stalin's Moscow did carry a fusion of both old and new, of Tsarist-era beauty and Proletarian utility, or even Classical designs yet using reinforced concrete and steel for those high-rise "palaces".

Maybe Chernikov knows that his works are unlikely to be built, some may have been taken but not as those of his sketches, but to see his portfolio of designs showed how he tries to invoke what a new being, coming from a working class tends to show different from what outside his Soviet Union described badly as such; and that is to conquer the impossible.

Ramblings on a soiled, failed republic

Ramblings on a soiled, failed republic

"Many of our thinkers believe that one of the things we need to ensure the success of our program of government is an ideology. There can really be no disagreement about the significance of ideology to our national planning. Questions arise only on the level of ontology- that is, on whether or not our conception of the "New Society" predicated on an ideology."

Many things have happened since the conception of this so-called "republic". Backwardness, dependency, extreme fatalism, poverty, various internal and external factors really brought a true face contrary to what the system had shown much to its subjects, that behind edifices of glass, concrete, and steel are shantytowns and backward mode of agriculture.

That crisis, indeed, is still with the people, and although the system afforded to say it is manageable, it failed to surmount the issue with whatever means, be it rhetoric, or half-baked solutions, worse, without any regard to the needs of the people. Ideology, supposed to support the foundations of a promising society, often disregarded in favour of just practicality as most countries do, in a way certain supposed "adherents" rather treat the idea as means to control than to assert its gains, beyond the construction and renovation of an ideal nation- state, of favouring, seriously adhering to neoliberal free-trade agreements than rolling sleeves, increase production quotas, and invest in agriculture, science, and technology.
The successes, as well as the perspective lies in its program, but to see its actuality, one would ask: given the present views of people trying to internalise a thought, of babbling some quotations yet doing its contrary through certain agreements, are they really building a country and serving the people?

Obviously, given the existing contrarian agreements, of deemphasising the needs of the people save for the sake of patronage politics, of breaking social concord, lies the inconvenient truth behind the society called "promising". The ideology the system tried to insist towards Filipinos has trying to create a promise different from its frustrated Liberal-Democratic past, of what say described as inspired from the desires of the Katipunan and of the Propaganda Movement; and yet after 1986 it again reverted to western-style Liberal-Democracy and its populist equivalents coming from succeeding administrations.
Most bear the same babble and action, of both what they promised and the actual contradiction, that somehow shows the actual reluctance in keeping the "thought" in favour of keeping firm in an order rooted in interest.  After all, most of them are landlords, compradores, oligarchs in their rooted backgrounds afforded to sneer people through the ears with rhetorics and half-baked "development."

The failure to internalise the so-called "Filipino Ideology", as well as any other thought somewhat rooted in the "desires of the past", stems from the system's reluctance, if not failure to seriously adhere to patriotic, if not nationalist, goals particularly those of its constituents, in a way words like "liberty", "freedom", "equality", "fraternity", "peace", "social justice", or even "revolution" has been treated as mere rhetoric, or aesthetic in pursuit of appeasing people, particularly in today's intentional crisis.

To the absolutist, those words stated are stood as first principles of human society, and justified since they proceed from man's intrinsic nature. Pragmatists, however, insist relevance, its justification, especially from a system that promotes those kind of values absolutists think as natural. It is easier to say those words though, but people also demand what is tangible, or rather say how will they turn the idea into practise. The "Filipino Ideology", and its idea of political and economic liberation, as well as social concord used those words stated in this post, but given the system's trying to keep firm in its interests, then comes the contrary.

How come it lies the contrary?  Those whom failed to internalise yet afforded to brag an "ideology" are neither absolutist nor pragmatic, or in this person's terms as idealist nor realistic; they may create some at least façades enough to "justify" terms this person stated, be it land reform, export-oriented industrialisation, or even an independent foreign policy and be justified by terms like "liberty" and "justice", but if this person may ask those on high: are these façades true to the aspirations of the people? Did it brought justice, peace, land, and bread to the suffering many? Most likely not regardless of their "actions", for those façades are treated same as those words: rhetoric, aesthetic, all meant to appease people yet failed as these people on high aren't really men true to learning and service, but assuming to be learned or serving as they crave for power and maintaining interests; worse, diluting the essence of what they babble since most of it hinders ambition.
Will a compradore favour industrialisation like those of the devleoped countries? Will a landlord favour agrarian reform? In theory maybe, but in actual they cannot assert further industrialisation especially those of making necessary products as they heavily benefit from trade, or making corporate farming be an alternative to land reform the way Hacienda Luisita has tried to; yet again these dilutions failed to resolve the problem of those who forge and till for a promising society, what more that they afforded to use terms such as Justice, Freedom, and Liberty in their series or speeches assuming to be concerning?

To use one of Marcos's writeups on "Filipino Ideology", such terms has becoming part of a value system, and some of which are contrary to what is truly inherent in Filipino culture. Worse, with having a system that has justified anything contrary to any of those statements:

"It is still fashionable, however, for Filipinos to adopt personal freedom, individualism, and private initiative as part of their value system. Similarly, an unhampered "free enterprise" economic system is still the ideological commitment of the upper class in the Philippines.

Unfortunately, "free enterprise", "free elections", and unlimited democracy as defined and practised in the Philippines have led to the growth of glaring economic inequities between the rich and the poor. Western "democracy" paradoxically became the instrument of the oligarchs for consolidating and perpetuating their power and wealth. Despite its rhetoric of equality, the system did not function to serve the interests of the Filipinos. It was in this sense, an alien ideology propagated to mislead Filipinos into believing that the system could insure political, social, and economic equality. It created illusions and a false consciousness among Filipinos; the frustration it wrought led to violent responses and the further repression of the human and compassionate impulse."

In a society marred by a man made crisis, of scandals, and various bullshits, the system tries to act paternalistic just to directly "ensure political, social, and economic equality". But that same system tolerates its own corruption that undermines the essence of what being babbled, regardless of its actions "enough" to serve as basis for their service and social amelioration. True that Democracy has been used by the system to consolidate their power, or as what one Greek researcher stated that the term is true to its term referring to be the rule of the privileged, hence excluding the have not.
Of course, in an underdeveloped country, such terms has to be tempered with relevance, what more of its practise; the need to modernise and improve the country has been rooted in the need for ameliorate social tension, of having an order assuming to be a benefactor trying to create a social concord, but with repressive policies being emphasised and taken into practise, of what is democracy, justice, and freedom if it is not for the ones really clamored for it? Sarit Thanarat tried to modernise, yet age old repressive policies continue to be tolerated in the name of "tradition", with the latter being synonymous with "order". Modernisation, as what most conservative-minded statespersons observed, is all but adapting modern methods, of technology and various needs to consolidate order; China's "Four Modernisations", as well as other "modernising" reforms did succeed, but did it guarantee fulfillment of its egalitarian and humanitarian goals? Or  will retain the supremacy of both old and new oligarchs?

Well, to use Marcos's terms, the "New Society", which was based from a "Filipino Ideology", as well as its successors whose inclination is blatant, rabid neoliberalism and globalisation hidden beneath the same belief as the former,  has been a hodgepodge of rhetorics, programs meant to be bragged, besides those of infrastructure most of which are funded by loans decades old and still paying. The reactions coming from the people would be mixed, especially when it comes to the contributions enough to consider one or another as a capable ruler. But, no matter how good the intention, such as the infrastructure, food distribution, and the favorite topic of having peace and order, its effects be deemed worse with all the debts and repressions made against the people.
True that in a matter of survival as a community a revival of national consciousness has to be enacted, of recultivating national awareness in pursuit of reclaiming national identity and a profound sense of pride as a nation, as well as a social concord between the state and the people. But to think that the system has been inclined towards contrarian policies like globalisation, mendicant foreign policy, with all its negative effects would be deemed themselves as patriotic or nationalist? Will be also deemed themselves for the people as they commercialise public assets and repress via unfair policies? Todays rulers tried to emulate well-known personages such as Tony Blair, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, or even Carlos Andres Perez and Lee Kwan Yew, they find expression the idea of a nation as a source of well being yet at the same time bound in a "global village" founded in a set of socioeconomic beliefs and bonded by existing agreements mostly disenfranchised the poor with its set of policies and actions taken. Ironically, these heads of state afforded to babble certain ideas different from their neoliberal set of beliefs, such as self-sufficiency, economic planning, or even national consciousness; but in the end they lean towards integration with preserving the neoliberal or even reactionary social order as its perspective.
For sure some, if not few ought to accept the inconvenient truth and a need for a truly radical change. Even Marcos admitted in his writings that the self-gratifying Ilustrados and Spaniards in the bureaucracy has cultivated corruption and other acts putting the state in a spiral of problems, that with the Americans brought Pork Barrel, tolerated landlordism and age-old caciquism, and has been cultivated corrupt officials doing socioeconomic sabotage for generations; but did he and his successors lessen, if not end the problem altogether? Series of socioeconomic scandals, of socioeconomic sabotage made by bureaucrats failed to bring back integrity in the bureaucracy for the system also benefited from its corruption and negligence.

Thus, no wonder why there are protests of various legitimate reasons, be it "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity," or to the obvious reason of "Peace, Land, and Bread." But after all, how legit is the message, that "The main principle of the ideology is that the state can, and must undertake social change, and that this change must reflect the aspirations of the historically underprivileged sectors of the society- the poor." But the point is, to prarphrase Marx, "is how to change it."

But how?

"Unearthed yet still forgotten"

"Unearthed yet still Forgotten"

Seeing all the comments bear memories to see
Most of them are already lost or dilapidating truly
With its walls cracking enough to demolish
Most of which were once palaces, halls enough to astonish
The ones who post are old, the readers are young
The young once who once dwellth in places once unsung
Most if not all lately remembered with the new edifices done
Once situated in the complexes whose machines once continuously run

Besides the factories there were fields covered with grasses
Few buildings were once set, but most were parks visited by lasses
Whose afternoon picnics with potato chips and root beer
Makes she and her boyfie end kissing quite so dear
Most of these were shown by pictures
So old yet remembering to some with its features
That made the new ones afforded to see
Fields of old buildings with or without chimneys, if not full-grown grasses and age-old trees

Quite idealistic for the old to reminisce those memories
A dream almost realised with speeches and factories
Churning to and fro, left and right
Trying to show the world a new found might
Of harvesting rice and seeing molten steel
Of making marmalades of sugar and orange peel
Time forward! Is the call asserting the future the yong once told
In their mini essays reminiscing the almost forgotten old

In every nostalgia I see, is a utopia for today,
For everyday is all but a come what may;
In a way way back then were the complexes with chimneys lies,
Are the billboards and malls continuously rise;
Seeing all the pages, seeing comments to remember,
The old looks their past as perfect, therefore it should had been forever;
But in this world inconveniently true, everyone just don’t care,
And showing real love, seeking true change is somewhat rare.

"Factories, bloody skies, and a shining star"

"Factories, bloody skies, and a shining star"

(Or Jamming the world with blood-red darkness)

Influenced by his observations, of  Neofolk and Industrial music, "Death to the World" and Cultural Revolution, Proletkult and Eduard Limonov, Historical scenes and Science Fiction, as well as old yet remarkable architecture particularly those of factories and other various edifices classy industrial and even commercial architecture, this person felt so compelled as he used some old pictures, both from his and from various sites, edited upon it, given blood-like colours as it invokes what he tries to convey such as a future different from what the system tends to show, with a black sun embedded in the red star shining in its skies.

It may deem strange, if not controversial given the use of colours and the black sun (or "Schwarze Sonne" in Deutsche) "shining" over the sky, maybe because this person sees that factories are churning a future brought by its forges and powered by engines whose air passes through its chimneys, guided by a star that illuminates "the dissolution of the body", and that body is the present system, deemed rotten.

And like the poems he made and the sketches he drawn, it reflects the bridging the aspirations of the past and of the present. That in its darkness soon comes light shining over the continents, a beacon to bring the fall of the old order and in its ruins comes a world anew. There are so many meanings behind that symbol, one example is that according to a writeup entitled "Essays for Richard Ellmann: Omnium Gatherum", it stated that some scholars regard the mythological Black Sun as the ancient female origin of all, it is both tomb and womb. Hence, death and rebirth.

Some of his works are crude though, whether as darker as his first works or not, this person tries to invoke the shining of the star into the sky, whether at the bustling streets of Sta. Cruz, the silent yet chuning factories of Muntinglupa, or even the painting that this person afforded to shot at Quezon Memorial, he tries to invoke a future far from what the system tends to convey if not a call for a rebirth that requires dismantling the order deemed repressive and dilapidating.
Sorry for being political though to reason out behind those works, but again, this person's view is culturally political with inconvenient realities enough for a reason. The factories, as what he featured much, reminds of an aspiration has has been lost for generations, save to those whom trying to assert; so is the city, and various edifices that captures the maker's imagination.

In fact, it's not been "new" to create something similar to this, in fact, the controversial anthem of "Democratic" Kampuchea (Cambodia) has featured "blood" in its first part:

"Bright red blood was spilled over the towns
And over the plains of Kampuchea our motherland
The sublime blood of our workers and famers
The sublime blood of our revolutionary combatants
Of both men and women."

That part, however, did create an effect, not because of the struggle as what expected, but of its "idealism" in pursuit of "outsmarting Lenin and outstripping Mao" with a Khmer brand of "socialism". To some, the message may sound "promising", particularly through its leaders whose nihilistic utopia is being justified "using Marxism" only to unravel its nonsense with all its killing fields and certain polices far from making a utopia what then-Soviet Union and China had done; but through the words itself, in a literary sense, may also meant "death to the world" in order to create another from its ruins and fallen.
Quite morbid and nihilistic isn't it in invoking blood in its message allegedly made by Pol Pot? Well, those words reminds of the quote "Give blood and recieve the spirit" according to saint Peter Damascene of the Orthodox church, thus a flood of blood has been done enough to sanctify and redeem the suffering from the rotting order.

Having inconvenient realities awaits a bloody outcome enough for some people to be scare and insisting a peaceful transition. No offense but, underneath the cries of freedom and justice from every march is to set the world on fire "in the name of love" that is "taken for granted", that underneath the smiles shown at the protest marches at EDSA or Luneta lies the desire to raise dirty fingers machetes, or the bomb to put hell against the system. Realities and discontent made people unleash what one writer described as "days and nights full of disquiet and rage." Yes, Nihil! Nihil except the aspirations of the people be realised!
